The rise of the Machine Sapiens!! YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY READ THIS IF YOU ARE HOMO-SAPIENS!
#Episode7#personalviews#machines#life
Have you ever imagined your existence in World? Why were we born and what is our significance in this huge busy market of life? Well, we know the existence of man was a process of evolution. We are referred to as great apes. Sounds weird! Haha I know right! About 13.5 billion years ago, matter, energy, time and space were born with what we call “The Big Bang”. Where everyone has their own interpretation on the concept of life and man, here’s what I learnt, about 2.5 million years ago an earlier genus of apes called Australopithecus is believed to be the start of human evolution. We started off showing traces in South Africa and then we migrated to different territories giving birth to more complicated terms like Homo Neanderthalensis, Homo Erectus, Homo Soloensis (That were some really hard words to pronounce) and so on and ended up calling ourselves Homo Sapiens, the wise man.
Now the question to ponder, “Are we wise?”
We still are called apes and in general, we are still animals like any other species. Something actually made us so special that we survived while the other Homo's became extinct. The concept of 'Survival of Fittest' weighs in here. We are meant to be superior. Australopithecus would have never imagined that one day his own species will take apart an atom or step on the moon. I like to believe that when human evolution started everyone was given a simple test of survival and we excelled, sapiens excelled the test and lived. So are we actually wise enough to call ourselves sapiens? You should definitely think about the question I put forward in front of you. To think more about this I present to you one of the images I found on the web that fits in this situation. Look at the image and then try to answer the question!
Hoping my interactive writing methods work! (Some of my pal’s critic feedback is that reading is never interactive and boring, trying to prove them wrong in here! I am sure I can ; ) Most of you would end up winding your brain with the thought we are the best and the wisest. Very few readers might stop for a while and look back at the scenario. With almost inventing a new element to entering space we are the best. The present mankind has given birth to more than just species. We are founders of the invention of artificial intelligence (AI), modern treatments in the medical field and every single entity around us including destruction, violence and exploitation of our own mankind. You heard me right! With my entire brief write up about evolution above, it's clearly visible that evolution was just a process where superior species replaced the ones that were present. Right now we are in a process of inventing new superior entities of automation. Our inventions, while has made life easier and simpler it still is a building step to our own extinction. I will never say that a robot will rule over us, my perspective is different from sci-fi movies online. Let me prove my point with a simple example from everyone's daily life. I want you to answer honestly. As you wake up every morning with a new hope to begin life and enjoy it, what's the first thing you end up doing the first hour after you are awake? Some may say brushing, preparing tea, daily chores and in the best/worst case scenario checking your phone for messages on WhatsApp, Facebook, Snapchat etc. I bet there are very few people who own a smartphone and yet barely touch their phone in the morning. Let's discuss this frankly, I am one among those people. I used to switch on my phone after I brush my teeth to check for notifications and then start my workout with my phone giving me instructions. Not until my mom lectured me to perform yoga with her, I stopped using my phone. Now it’s been more than six months since I started off my day by not touching my phone after my immediate wake-up. Though there are some unavoidable situations of using your phone early in the morning, some are still unnecessary. This one-act replicates the dependence on technology. You might say what is wrong with checking your phone early in the morning?
For starters here’s something I have, "The first hour of your day will define the rest of the day". To provide my perspective even more,
The first hour of your day will define the rest of the day and the hour just before bed will define your sleep and the upcoming day of your life- (Quoted by Nova-a 19 year old girl) Haha just kidding, I am no famous influncer but do have proofs and facts to prove my point!
I belive and have proofs that before bed and after bed, in short the morning and night of your life are the most important. The one hour before and after sleep are the most precious and crucial times of life!
Now back on track in continuation with your question ‘what is wrong with checking your phone early in the morning?’, maybe you are right. You might have missed an emergency call or a person in need and want to call him back immediately, but still, look back and think have you just used your phone only for such necessary things. If yes I am really proud of you and I admire you for your personality and would love to talk to you and get inspired but if no I really want you to think and decide if you are on right track. There is proven research that shows the excessive usage of phones can impair your ability to think and lead a normal life. Not just this but excessive clicks on your smartphone capturing every moment is also dangerous. The image capturing overload can cause heightened anxiety to memory impairment. We end up holding our phone so much, capturing every other thing. There are special moments in life we cherish and love to remember, but let's remember them stored in our brain and heart rather than phones. It's good to click one or two but not twenty-thirty. I believe things should always be done within a certain limit. Being limitless sounds adventurous and fun but setting up boundaries helps us not fall into the worst situations. Too much success, too much studying, too much reading, too much exercise, too much happiness and even too much writing for a weekly newsletter is injurious to health!!! I know you might not want to stand with me on this take but still think for yourself. Behaving in a limit is our own perception of where we can exploit ourselves. The boundaries beyond the limit are set by your individual experiences, perspectives and thoughts and it’s solely your choice. I am no one to interfere! I m just trying to persuade you into thinking about this topic.
We at any stage of our life have encountered situations where we can't stand without the machines that have become a part of our life. There is not much time before we witness the rise of “Machine Sapiens” which I think is only a few decades away. Machine sapiens to me is wise machines that we wise people are busy creating. Here the robots might not avenge on Earth-like the movie, “Avengers: Age of Ultron” but the rise I am talking about is machines doing there own job but we will be stuck in a loop where we forget what human life used to be and exploit our life. I wouldn't exactly call the machines wise but they are definitely made by wise humans. I am never against the development in society but it should definitely be done to an extent.
As the theme song of the famous American sitcom, The Big Bang Theory
"It's expanding ever outward but one day,
It will cause the stars to go the other way,
Collapsing ever inward, we won't be here, it won't be heard,
Our best and brightest figure that it will make an even bigger bang!"
This song seems logically and true to me. Check out the theme song if you haven’t, The Big Bang Theory. It makes quite a sense and is one of my favourites too ;-)
I started off with evolution and some very huge terminology but my only point was to think if we are in the right direction. We are called wise men because we are the ones who can decide what's best for us and when to stop everything from collapsing. If you still doubt me and want to explore more about our past, present and future, I can still go and on. But let's not do that unless you ask me for it, I am open to discussions and thoughts even criticism on this topic so feel free to connect with me. Also, I hope you can check out this thought-provoking book and one of the bestseller books 'Sapiens-A brief history of mankind' by Sir Yuval Noah Harari. The very first page of the book has some really good definitions I want to point out here! Subject to copyright but still worth letting my reader’s give the golden piece of information.
Fire- Gave us the power
Gossip-Helped us cooperate
Agriculture-Made us hungry for more
Mythology-Maintained law and order
Money-Gave us something we can really trust
Contradictions-Created culture
Science-Made us deadly.
This book opens your imagination and tells you some really hard truths. I have been reading this for a while and the only reason I read it was because it supported my thoughts and imaginations on the replacement of man by machines. I stopped after a while and will start soon from April to begin with again. You are free to join the book club where you can sit and read the book and discuss thoughts right with a nerd! Also with some amazing techniques with speed reading, I will also provide you with some hacks! (Just email at gkhop1729@gmail.com and you will get all caught up/ else subscribe to HoP and you will be there too!).
Finally, to end with I just want to say that I am one of the people who is an AI (Artificial Intelligence) fan and completing courses on this topic online. So I am not saying technology is bad and it should be stopped from exploration and invention. My only point is about how we use it and are we using it wisely? If yes, if you are strong enough to say that you don’t assume that technology is overdoing in your life and you are not hypnotized by its features and amazing setup, then you are right on track. I would love to interact with you but also if you even doubt 0.0005% after you read this on your lifestyle and routine and wish to re-evaluate or seek any perspectives you are always and wholeheartedly welcome to reach out to me! You just have to drop in an email and I will be right back at you!
Inventing new machines is fun, hard and awesome but trying to find a human replacement in them is inappropriate. At the end of the day, they are still machines and let them be one according to the google definition!
And The END…….
Best Regards
Nova
